Is it free?
Yes, completely.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign-up is open to anyone right now, and will move to invite-only later.
What information do you collect at sign-up?
None. Your account is a key pair your browser generates locally. No email, phone, or name.
How does matching work?
By default you are matched with the same sex. This is deliberate: it sets the tone of the site and removes the dating-and-skipping behavior random chat sites are known for, so conversations stay real. Add interests like anime or gaming to pair on shared topics.
Can I match across sexes?
Yes. Add an r9k or 4chan tag. When both people use one of these tags, matching is not limited to the same sex.
Can I match by location?
Add a soc tag to match with people near you, based on approximate location. You can set an optional maximum distance in miles. Both people need the soc tag.
How do you keep bots out?
Invite-based moderation ties accounts to real people.
Video or text?
Both. Pick either when you start.
How do I skip to a new person?
Press the Start button to match with someone new.
Are my chats saved?
No. They are not stored.
